Wild crocuses!

These are the first blooms of any kind I've seen this spring in NoDak.

Indeed, after an Easter dinner with Farmor and Farfar, Mom, Dad, and I drove to Killdeer Mountain, where we took the photo.

The beaver dams are full and running. Saw 3 porcupines, 25 deer, 50 wild turkeys, and dozens of newborn calves.

The first crocus flowers of the season always bring tears to my eyes.

It has been years since I have seen wild crocus (pasque flower) on the prairie in the spring. I have deep warm memories from my childhood of seeing them in spring, sometimes popping through a small patch of snow. I love the fuzzy covering they have and the delicate lavender flower. Do you have the flower prairie smoke on your property also? My mom's family called it grandfather's whiskers. Hope you can catch a photo of them sometime. They are wonderful also. Thanks for the visual treat that sent me to a wonderful place in my memories.

Anon. 1 (ivee) - Hi! No shows planned in Utah or CO. Remind me your email in case things change.

Anon. 3 - I do believe we have Prairie Smoke up there too. If I see it I'll try to remember to snap a pic.

Anon. 4 - Not bi as far as I know. I like flowers, though. If you're wondering 'cause of the post from "Hank" on yesterday's blog . . . "Hank's" a gal.
