+ = AWESOME.

I can't get enough early '80s Prince and Bruce Springsteen these days. Who would be their equivalents in our neo-modern era? Nothing compares 2 them.

You're the man Sandman! I recently passed through your montana home on my escape from olympia to the back to the south. She stole my heart. *cups hat, chokes back a tear*

I'm sure I'd never hear the end of it from AJ, but for me, there may be other Springsteens... but there could never be another Prince. Some things never get old.

Today, I can't get enough of Matt (Soul Coughing) Doughty's new solo record, "Haughty Melodic." Great stuff!

GOOSE- tell me more! soul coughing was life at one time!!! saw doughty a few years back at a really small venue in nashville (either for skittish or live, i don't recall)- maybe 20 people tops and he acted like a jerk. so that kind of turned me off for a while but i'd like to hear more of his newish stuff.... just haven't gotten around to it. now that daughty is on ATO do you think Dave Matthews has had an influence on his music- maybe too much so? From what I've heard on the newest album there are definite parallels. may i say- ick! ahem.

chris, how rude is it to post a comment to someone else on your blog? sorry! ;-)

Bruce Springsteen was my first real musical experience. 1985; 5 years old; I wore the grooves off that "My Hometown/Santa Claus is Coming to Town" 45! Me and my Fisher Price record player were rockin out every day after nursery school. ha... My mom dug him, too, so we went to his concert that year... it must have been Born in the USA... the timing doesn't really seem to work out but I know it was the same year. anyway. Crazy. i'm glad you mentioned "The Boss". I haven't listened to him in a while-I'm going to have to drag out my record player. I've updated my Fisher Price since then.

Re: Doughty... I thought Skittish was pretty good, and I still haven't heard Rockity Roll, but Haughty Melodic is excellent. Much more solid and produced than Skittish. I don't know enough Dave Matthews to really say if it has that kinda vibe, but it does have a little country-folk kinda thing going on. Hmm... I'm not exactly Lester Bangs here. All's I know is, I dig it muchly.
